New Here?

We’re Glad You Are Here!

Whatever your reason for joining us today, we offer our warmest welcome. Please know that whether you see familiar faces here or if you don’t recognize anyone, you will discover that there is a place for you here at Cherry Park UMC and that lasting friendships are formed in faith.

A Neighborhood Church…

Cherry Park UMC has been a cornerstone in the Cherry Park area since its establishment in 1958. In fact our first worship services were held in the basement of our parsonage on Easter Sunday. Since that time we’ve seen generations of families grow up here and the neighborhood evolve around us.

…With a Global Reach

As part of the United Methodist family of Churches, Cherry Park’s ministry is extended globally through our “connectionalism” with other UM in ministry around the world! Cherry Park helps support missionairies in South America and with other UM churches helped build the first theological university on the continent of Africa!

Memorial Prayer Garden

In recent years we have developed a ministry we believe is unique to Cherry Park UMC. It is our Memorial Prayer Garden which was begun in 2009 as a way to honor those beloved church members who have gone on to join the saints in that “great cloud of witnesses”. Their names are carved in stones for perpetuity. Church as well as community members also are able to purchase Remembrance Bricks to honor and remember loved ones. These bricks are placed within the garden walkways in a variety of open, accessible locations.

The Garden is a beautiful and serene space in which church or community members may sit to quietly reflect, pray or meditate, recollect loved ones and feel the peace presence of God. The original church cross that once stood atop the church building now stands in the garden and lends a connection with our past that ties to our future.

The Church In Action

As a mainline Christian church we understand that our ministry takes place both inside and outside of the church building and grounds.
